Testing Bass Tab Upload

So this is just a test … I’m still working on completing it.  Uploading Beautiful One Bass Tab … Intro, Verse 1, Chorus, Verse 2, Chorus Bass Tab – Beautiful One

Let me know what you think.  It might be easier to print the tab out, instead of scrolling through all the pages.  I hope to also add a sound file, so you can play along with me or at least hear what it sounds like.

Any feedback is very welcome!!!

With Abandon

wow!  I’ve been playing bass for, I don’t know, 6 years now.  And this is the first time that I poured my everything into worshipping God.  The bass literally became the extension of my soul.

The Set: You are Good (Israel & New Breed); choruses of Awesome God & The Stand (HillsongUnited); How He Loves; You Hold Me Now; It is Well.

By the end of You Hold Me Now as we sang the chorus accapella: No weeping, no sick or lame, no suffering you hold me now, my sister Leah (our drummer) and I were spent.  We felt we could fall asleep right there from the pure exhaustion of worshipping with everything.  Its so hard to explain … but it was the first time I actually worshipped with total abandon.  It never crossed my mind once what other people were thinking of me or what I was doing.  It was wonderful …

What would my life be like if I lived as I worshipped in rehearsal.  A life that only cares what God thinks, a life lived with abandon.

I am empty, but its a good empty :)

What If

What if we approached the Bible the way we approach learning bass lines?  What if we poured over a little passage of scripture like we do that trickly music line that eludes us?

I just got finished learning a more difficult bass line for ‘How He Loves’ – Jared Anderson’s version.  That guy is crazy good on the bass.  Amazing stuff God has blessed him with.  I was content to just stay at my skill level and give the same lackluster bass line.  I wanted to breathe the message of the song through the bass.  So I sat at his feet, so to speak, to learn his technique and from his ideas build my own line that best met my skill level.  I went over one part over and over and over again until I finally understood what he was doing.  I spent 30 minutes, seeing how each note related to the passion of the words that were being song, how it portrayed the message of the song …

What if I approached the Bible the same way?  What if I spent 30 minutes studying the verse and not just rushing through content to just have read the Bible.  If I took the time to study the verse … I would be able to see how each word tells me something wonderful about Jesus, I would feel and understand His passion, and my life would be changed to be more like Him.  Just like the bass line came to life … so would our lives, if we only took the time to learn at Jesus feet and not be content to be status quo.

Before the Throne of God Above

“Let us cling to Him and never stop trusting Him. This High Priest of ours understands our weaknesses, for He faced all of the same temptations we do, yet He did not sin. So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive His mercy and we will find grace to help us when we need it” – Hebrews 4:14-16

I discovered the book of Hebrews on March 19, 2010. I know its been there the whole time, but I never really stopped to actually read it. I’ve read the “Faith” chapter (Hebrews 11) but that was all. This book is wonderful … it really does tell of Jesus! It tells us of His love, His sacrifice … the whys, the hows. I’m excited to dig in some more :) As I read, my heart is singing and I can’t stop singing this wonderful song.  It totally captures the heart of the Book of Hebrews.

Before the throne of God above
I have a strong , a perfect plea
A great High Priest whose name is Love
Who ever lives and pleads for me
My name is graven on His hands
My name is written on His Heart
I know that while in heaven He stands
No tongue can bid me thence depart
No tongue can bid me thence depart

~the end~

When Satan tempts me to despair
And tells me of my guilt within
Upward I look and see Him there
Who made an end to all my sin
Because the sinless Savior died
My sinful soul is counted free
For God the just is satisfied
To look on Him and pardon me
To look on Him and pardon me

Hallelujah, Hallelujah, Praise the One, Risen Son of God

Behold Him there, the Risen Lamb
My perfect Spotless Righteousness
The great unchangeable I AM
The King of glory and of grace
One with Himself, I cannot die
My soul is purchased by His blood
My life is hid with Christ on High
With Christ my Savior and my God
With Christ my Savior and my God

Hallelujah, Hallelujah, Praise the One, Risen Son of God
Hallelujah, Hallelujah, Praise the One, Risen Son of God

What’s in a Name?

This week our worship team was asked to give ourselves a name.  We were asked to do this two years ago.  We sat for two hours + and came up with nothing that summed us up.

Two years later finds us still searching for that name.  In the end, we had two choices: Gsus (God Sustained) or Scattered Vessels (because the band comes from all over NJ … Vessels because God choses to live in us and work through us, containers filled with God).

4/3 in favor of Scattered Vessels …

Did we make the right choice?

We as a team feel like its not our name … and we will continue searching until God drops the perfect one in our laps.
